La bandiera è una sovrapposizione della bandiera d'Inghilterra: croce rossa di San Giorgio su un campo bianco, croce decussata di Sant'Andrea bianca su un campo blu in rappresentanza della Scozia, croce di San Patrizio rossa su un campo bianco in rappresentanza dell'Irlanda del Nord.
La posizione delle diagonali create dalla croce di San Patrizio e di Sant'Andrea deve dare pari peso alle due entità.
