Descrizione
La bandiera ha due nastri orizzontali uguali di giallo e rosso con un nastro verde verticale sul lato sinistro. La bandiera riprende i colori panafricani derivati da quella etiopica.

Il Nome
il nome deriva da Bini un antico regno del Golfo di Guinea

Dahomey
Dahomey deriva dalla parola Dan Homè Ouegbe: La Casa sul Ventre di Dan da cui derivò il nome del Dahomey oggi Benin. Secondo la leggenda il re di Abomey Dacko litigò col fratello Ouegbadge e volendo ingrandire il suo regno si rivolse ad un diplomatico di nome Dan che esclamò " Ma tu vuoi costruire sul mio ventre" vista la richiesta così esorbitante. Ouegbadge allora uccise Dan e Dacko. Presso la tomba di Dan costruì il suo Palazzo e da qui l'iscrizione Dan Homè Ougbe.
